Healing | Stop-Motion Animation | Video | Sound | 2:03 Min | 2014
Using coin therapy to its intentional function but also transforming it into a metaphorical method about violence and pain, Healing abstractly generalizes my parents’ past. The sound of an explosion briefly suggests an historical event—the Khmer Rouge, a communist regime led by Pol Pot in Cambodia during 1975-1979. The two individually escape from a time and place of horror until they meet each other at the spine, and continue on towards the present as the physical and emotional sufferings they have unfortunately consumed are healing.
